We moved to Maine from California six years ago. It was a difficult decision as we were both born in Southern California and had lived there for more than five decades. We had lots of friends there though not much family. He said he never wanted to travel east of the Rockies, but then both our children ended up attending colleges on the East Coast. The more we visited them the more we could visualize a move across country. He needed to find a place that was not so sunny and hot. We both wanted to be “on the water” and to live near a university where there would be a lot of activities and a lot of young people with energy and enthusiasm …no retirement villas for us. It has been a good move for us, though both of our children have graduated from college and have relocated thousands of miles away for their careers. We do make sure we keep in touch with them and see them at least once a year. And, occasionally have a Martini Friday together.
